lack of religious knowledge

hey there...
in order to reveal the statement of lack of religious knowledge led to baby dumping, i have interview one of the political science's tutor and he agree with this statement... he said that ".. yes, religion is being taught since kid, but it's only being taught and not practiced by the students..". he also added that the  religion institutions in Malaysia doesn't play the exact role in order to gives education and to reminds people about what actually religion taught us. so, is it true? and who to blame? the religion or the individual himself who does not practice their religion.. so what do think??
